The LIFE® emergency oxygen units must be filled with medical grade oxygen (USP) if the indicator on the gauge is less than full, in order to ensure that an adequate supply is on hand for emergency.
THE OXYGEN CYLINDER MAY BE REFILLED WITH PURE MEDICAL OXYGEN BY ANY MEDICAL/INDUSTRIAL GAS DISTRIBUTOR who uses the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) #870 PIN-INDEXED UNIVERSAL COUPLING FOR OXYGEN. Gas distributors in your area may be some of the following companies:
- Air Liquide Company / Airgas
- Air Products Company
- Linde Gas / Praxair / LifeGas/ BOC Gases

THE FACTORY SETTING OF THE "ON/OFF" LEVER DOES NOT CHANGE IF THE LEVER REMAINS MATCHED WITH THE RESPECTIVE CYLINDER & VALVE.
The lever must be reset if a unit is reassembled with a different cylinder/valve. The "on" position of each separate cylinder/valve varies anywhere of 360°.
Notice the fingernail activated pin-slide mechanism on the left side of the "on/off" lever. The pin-slide can be retracted so as to set the lever in various positions. The proper position of the lever is so the valve first releases oxygen at the "center" (on the same axis as the contents gauge).
Properly set the lever so that the valve releases oxygen at that position closest to the center of the slot in the Lexan faceplate when assembled.
(It must be remembered that oxygen continues to be released after the valve is turned to "off" for a few seconds, during which the pressure inside the regulator is being released).
