Can I run my Westcott scissors through the dishwasher?

Our Westcott Everyday home/office/school scissors are not dishwasher safe.  Many, can be used for simple tasks in the kitchen such as cutting open sealed packages, but the blades must be wiped clean with a wet cloth and hand-dried.

They're not made for immersion in soapy water or a dishwasher cycle.  Dishwasher detergent is very corrosive.  After repeated dishwasher cycles the plated screw would start to rust and sometime later tiny rust spots would appear on the blades.
